First Impressions: CMF Watch Pro 2

Main Post:

So, I just got the CMF Watch Pro 2 today, and here are my initial thoughts. For a bit of context, I’ve been using an iPhone XR as my daily driver and had been rocking the Honor Band 4 for the past 4-5 years. I was happy with it, but it was time for an upgrade. I saw the CMF Watch Pro 2 trending everywhere, with people calling it the best budget smartwatch. Sure, I read about some flaws, but I still went for it because, honestly, it’s the best-looking smartwatch in this price range.

First Impressions

Right out of the box, this watch felt premium. Compared to the plastic frame and silicone band of my Honor Band 4, this one’s a massive step up. It has an aluminum body, and it’s bigger too, which makes it feel like a proper smartwatch. I’ve used Apple Watches and Galaxy Watches before, and this feels almost on par with those in terms of looks and build quality.

Setup & Initial Use

Setting it up was super easy. You pick your measurement units, configure a few settings, and you’re good to go. The crown button is smooth, and the haptic feedback when scrolling through the menu feels nice. A lot of people mentioned laggy UI in their reviews, but I haven’t experienced any of that so far.

The Good Stuff

• Calling: This is a big highlight for me. You can save up to 30 contacts on the watch, dial numbers directly, and even answer WhatsApp calls. I tested the mic and speaker, and the quality is pretty solid. My friends said the audio was clear, and the noise reduction seems to work well. • Design: It looks and feels premium—definitely better than what I expected at this price. • Ease of Use: The menu navigation is smooth, and the overall experience feels polished.

The Not-Good stuff

1. Connection Issues: The watch disconnects if the app isn’t running in the background. So, you can’t close the app; otherwise, you lose the connection. 2. Haptics: Scrolling feedback is great, but the vibrations for calls and notifications feel cheap—kind of like my old Honor Band 4. 3. No Replies for Notifications: You can’t reply to messages or interact much with notifications, which is a bit disappointing.

Overall Thoughts

I’ve only used it for a few hours, but so far, I’m liking it. It’s definitely an upgrade from my old fitness band. It looks good, handles calls well, and has decent features for the price. If I had to rate it, I’d give it a solid 7/10. Do I regret buying it? Not at all. I’m excited to see how it holds up over the next couple of weeks. Let’s see how things go!

Top Comment: It has the ability to reply with predetermined phrases in the messaging app or messenger app.

First day with Watch 3 Pro - Impressions.

Main Post:

Got in the Watch 3 Pro early this morning, so Ive worn it all day.

Ive gone through all of CMF's watches. There were things I really liked about the previous two, but this one is the first one to feel actually finished.

Its still the same basic interface - swipe up for notifications. Scroll through for widgets. Crown button for more apps. It definitely feels more refined this go round, however. Theres tons of little animations that happen, little haptic ticks when scrolling through things or swiping through. Its definitely noticeable how finished it feels. Theres even a double click shortcut option for the crown. The new watchfaces are nice, and the animated ones are interesting. I hope theres more. Maybe another round of community ones like the first watch had.

The widgets have also gotten an overhaul. Most are one per screen now, though there is still an option for a four to a panel like previous watches. Overall, the widgets feel more nothing. Ndot is everywhere, they're unique, they provide information in new ways that are ultimately intuitive. They have animations. And, for the sticklers, the music widget has been updated to actually show album artwork (see second picture). The weather widget is a new favorite of mine.

I went for the dark grey/orange one, and Im not disapointed. Its pretty much black (which I wanted), textured, and flat. It definitely feels a little more premium than the Watch Pro 2. I briefly used the included band, but since Im a sweat monster I switched to my go to canvas strap. The included strap seems fine, and they mixed up the shape of it, so its a little fancy.

I cant say too much on the sensors yet, but there are more of them, so thats a good thing, right?

Overall good - The software upgrade is great. The new screen is great, the bezels are tiny now. The build quality feels unique. The integration with Nothing X is awesome. The battery life so far is nuts. I wore it from 9am to 10pm, with decently heavy use, and only used 4%.

Overall not great - The size is teetering on too big. I hope they dont go any bigger. Theres no real "wow" thing about it. No killer new feature or anything. The voice transcribing is cool, the essential news widget is OK. But I just feel like its missing a big wow addition. When the leaks had it having an essential space button? Thats pretty good. Even some functionality between the voice transcription and Essential Space would be cool. Not enough new watch faces, but thats more of a personal opinion.

Should you upgrade? If you have a Watch Pro and are looking, sure. It blows the first gen watch out of the water. A Watch Pro 2? I mean, personal choice. If you're unhappy with it and expecting a huge change, you'll still be disapointed. If you want better sensors and better workout tracking, go for it. If youre like me and just want the pretty new thing, you probably wont be disapointed. If you're happy with the Watch Pro 2, keep it.

TLDR:
Pros:

  • Very fast and fluid with up to 16GB RAM+1TB
  • Dimensity 9300 is as good as the SD8Gen3
  • Decent battery life & fully charges in 27 mins
  • Some of the best cameras in a phone
  • Top low light & zoom camera performance
  • The 8K video is one of the best I've seen
    Cons:
  • The Dimensity 9300 throttles a lot under heavy loads
  • No 4k front video and the ultrawide should be wider
